[ Thor would honestly agree; his feelings about his father are very complicated these days, and while at the time his father's last words to him were inspiring, and unlocked his power, in retrospect he had many questions without any possible closure. Like so many arguments he will never be able to lay at Odin's feet. Instead it leaves Thor, an already powerful man who spent all of his life learning to contain it, spiraling out like a child again. It is deeply frustrating and even a little humiliating, to find himself back at square one in many ways. He can be angry about that later.

For now, he knows she's right, of course. He kept thinking if he could only find a way, this would all be over, but as much as Thor can create intense storms, storms are still a part of nature, and nature is not something anyone has full control over. Thor can see the static charged around them, setting their hair on edge, and if he doesn't let go, she will be in danger. Which is all the motivation he needs in the end.

Thor cannot let go of the lightning here, so he wearily nods at her and then jumps high into the air. All of a sudden the dark sky, the thunder, the rolling gray-black clouds, it booms overhead and curls past her, and the lightning seems to burst right out of him. The storm itself masks what is clearly supernatural, so no one outside of their space would see how much he lights up, how the lightning seems to live under his very skin for a moment and shines unnaturally bright. The sky bursts with light and then dims. All the while Jane remains dry and safe, his control good enough for that.

When Thor comes back down it's fast, landing on his knee, his eye no longer glowing and the electricity no longer dancing through his veins. The storm passes them, unhindered now by his inner war, and he looks at her, weary. Not due to the release of lightning, but the struggle to keep it controlled.

His temper flares again but no more thunder pounding comes from it, as the storm is now raging past them and living on its own.]

Damn Loki and damn Odin's secrets.
